White sand, bioluminescent nights, and some of Asia's best diving. A first-timer's guide to the Andaman Islands.
Closer to Thailand than the Indian mainland, the Andaman Islands feel like a different country — turquoise water, coral reefs, and beaches that regularly top 'world's best' lists.
Havelock and Neil
Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) is the headliner, home to Radhanagar Beach and a thriving dive scene. Neighbouring Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) is quieter, greener, and perfect for slow mornings and snorkelling lagoons.
Plan around the sea
Ferries connect the islands but fill quickly in season — book ahead. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, and set aside one evening for the bioluminescent plankton that turns the night water into liquid starlight.
